VLC 2.0.3 Installation and Testing Precise-Proposed on Linux Ubuntu

For being up-to-date there is no need to add unstable PPAs. VLC the free media player is now on the way to Ubuntu Software Center. Benjamin Drung the developer of Ubuntu would like some brave readers, test it with Precise-Proposed Repository for regression before the arrival of ‘stable release updates’. In the resent fixes bugs are appearing as the result.

How to Enable Precise Proposed and Test VLC 2.0.3 in Ubuntu 12.04

If you don’t have VLC then install it from theUbuntuSoftwareCenter.

Then allow the Precise Proposed repository:

  • Open theUbuntuSoftwareCenter
  • Open Software Sources from the Edit menu
  •  Allow ‘Pre-Released Software’ from the ‘Updates’ tab
  • For checking new updates run Update Manager
  • Upgrade VLC
