How to install Latest NVIDIA 295.49 drivers on Ubuntu

The company released 295.49 drivers established for all Linux users. NVIDIA provides the primary set of beta drivers 302 xx Linux in the same week. This update sticks on a regression in its performance. It will be affected for some users who already have the 295.40 drivers. The main feature of the NVIDIA 295.49 driver is concerning the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 support. With the following video cards we fixed some problems.

  • GeForce 8800 GTS
  • GeForce 8800 Ultra
  • Quadro FX 4600
  • Quadro FX 5600
  • GeForce 8800 GTX

How to install Latest NVIDIA 295.49 drivers on Ubuntu


The following PPA is well matched with the versions of Ubuntu:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa: Ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

Please reboot your system to effect the changes. You can run NVIDIA X Server Settings now.
On the other hand you can open from the terminal command:

glxinfo | grep OpenGL

You should receive output as the following:

OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GT 525M/PCIe/SSE2
